Outback Bowl 2012: Georgia Looking To Stay Undefeated Against Michigan State In Bowls

Stay connected for news and updates

The Georgia Bulldogs and Michigan State Spartans will meet in a bowl game for the third time in the 2012 Outback Bowl. Georgia has a 2-0 record in those two games, and will be looking to stay spotless.

The two teams' first match-up came in the first of two 1989 Gator Bowls, a 34-27 Georgia win; the Gator Bowl after the 1988 season was held in January 1989, while the 1989 season's Gator Bowl was held in December. Georgia quarterback Wayne Johnson was named MVP.

The other Bulldogs-Spartans battle is significantly more recent: Georgia topped Michigan State, 24-12, in the 2008 Capital One Bowl. Knowshon Moreno and Javon Ringer both disappointed in the game, combining for just over 100 yards on the ground, and the Bulldogs pulled away late with a touchdown pass from MVP Matt Stafford to Moreno.
