Marcus Thornton Injury: Bulldogs Forward To Undergo Surgery Thursday

Stay connected for news and updates

Georgia forward Marcus Thornton is out indefinitely after injuring his knee in the Bulldogs' win over Furman.

When Georgia takes the floor Tuesday night against Winthrop it will do so without sophomore forward Marcus Thornton who is out with a knee injury. Thornton injured his knee in the Bulldogs' 64-50 win over Furman last Friday and will have exploratory surgery on Thursday to discover the extent of the injury and to determine possible recovery time.

Thornton has started nine games for the Bulldogs this season and is averaging 2.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. He has struggled offensively only hitting 24 percent of his shots to go along with being a 50 percent shooter from the free throw line. His 5.8 rebounds per game average does lead the team.

The Bulldogs have struggled the entire season with their front court and this news certainly doesn't help. This likely will give John Florveus and Tim Dixon more minutes on the court in Thornton's absence.
