Georgia Tech was looking to bounce back from an upset loss to Mercer their last time out but what they got instead was a two game losing streak after falling to Fordham 72-66.
Fordham's Chris Gaston leads the nation in double-doubles this season and had another big game against the Yellow Jackets. Gaston scored 23 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to help lead the Rams to victory.
Tech cut the lead to 56-53 late in the half but couldn't get any closer as the Rams went on a 9-3 run to take back control. Brandon Frazier chipped in 19 points and six assists for Fordham.
Jason Morris led the Yellow Jackets with 17 points while Brandon Reed chipped in 16. Tech's leading scorer Glen Rice Jr was held scoreless in 19 minutes of action.
Last time out, the Georgia Tech suffered an upset loss to in-state school Mercer 65-59. The Yellow Jackets will look to bounce back tonight when they travel to Rose Hill Gym in New York for a road match-up with Fordham.
The Rams are 5-6 on the season but 4-1 at home. They are led by 6-foot-7 forward Chris Gaston who is averaging a double-double of 16.1 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. Fordham has won two of their last three games with the only loss coming at the hands of St Johns on the road. The Rams defeated Texas State before the Christmas break 81-70.
Mercer snapped Georgia Tech's three game winning streak and the Yellow Jackets enter tonight's game with a 7-5 record. Glen Rice Jr leads the team in scoring at 14.7 per game, is second in rebounding at 7.4 and is first in assists at 2.8 per contest.

Some late game heroics by senior guards Dustin Ware and Gerald Robinson forced overtime as the Bulldogs went on to defeat Winthrop by a score of 92-86 at Stegeman Coliseum.
With Winthrop leading 75-71, Dustin Ware hit a three pointer with just 9.6 seconds remaining on the clock to pull the Bulldogs to within just one point at 75-74. After a time-out, Georgia fouled Derrick Henry to stop the clock who made just one of two at the line to make the score 76-74. Gerald Robinson then took the inbounds pass and raced end-to-end and tied the game with a lay in with just over two seconds remaining. Winthrop couldn't get off a game winning attempt and the game headed into overtime.
The Bulldogs outscored the Eagles 16-10 in the extra session as the Bulldogs escaped with their eighth win of the season.
Robinson finished with 22 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Bulldogs. Dustin Ware came off the bench to score 20 points and hand out three assists. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope finished with 18 points and six rebounds while Nemanja Djurisic chipped in a career-high 17 points and nine rebounds. Djurisic got the start in place of the injured Marcus Thornton who is out indefinitely after knee surgery.
Andre Jones scored a game-high 33 points for the Eagles who fell to 4-9 on the season.
