SEC Championship 2011: Georgia Leads LSU 10-7 At Halftime.

After Georgia controlled the first quarter, LSU's defense reestablished itself in the second as neither team's offense was able to move the football with any regularity. The only scoring in the second quarter came on a 62 yard punt return for a touchdown by the Tigers' Tyrann Mathieu. Georgia leads LSU 10-7 at halftime. Interestingly replay showed that Mathieu flipped the ball to the official moments before crossing the goal line.

Georgia's defense led by Alec Ogletree was dominant holding LSU to just 12 yards of total offense in the first half and no first downs. How dominant has the Bulldogs' defense been? Jordan Jefferson completed just two passes for seven yards while two different Tigers lead the team with seven yards rushing.

After a good start, Georgia's offense sputtered in the second quarter. Aaron Murray finished 10 of 23 in the first half for 114 yards and one touchdown. Carlton Thomas carried the ball four times for 26 yards while Isaiah Crowell has just 14 yards on nine carries. Tavarres King finished the first half with two catches for 52 yards.

The theme of the first half for the Bulldogs is missed opportunities. Georgia had chances to score touchdowns on both of their first two drives but were held to just a field goal.
