Cam Newton's Media Day Workout Awes Trent Dilfer, Confuses Everybody Else

Soon-to-be compensated football player Cam Newton, formerly a well-received amateur student-athlete at Auburn University, held some sort of private workout today for media members, not NFL scouts. Media members don't do the drafting at the NFL Draft, you say, but Newton has always had his own way of helping others determine which team he'll end up playing for.

Trent Dilfer lost his mind over Newton's showing, using words like "slobbering" to describe what he saw. Atlanta Falcons fans have had more than their fill of Dilfer this year, and probably haven't paid much attention to anything he's had to say about teams besides our own, so it's weird to hear him speak positively of anything. Let alone slobberingly.

But is Dilfer's slobber properly applied in this instance?

Last year around this time Dilfer said Jimmy Clausen and Colt McCoy were far and away better pro prospects than Sam Bradford. Bradford won Rookie of the Year, and Clausen might see the Carolina Panthers draft another quarterback again this year, so.

I think it's safe to say that Trent Dilfer's slobber has steered the world wrong before.
