Marquise Hawkins, Deion Bonner, Other UGA Football Recruit Named As Locker Raid Suspects

Stay connected for news and updates

As announced yesterday by University of Georgia police chief Jimmy Williamson, three suspects have been named in the case of the missing iPods. Three football recruits — Marquise Hawkins, Deion Bonner, and an unnamed Carver-Columbus High football player — have been named in warrants in connection with the April 7 Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall locker room robbery.

No, the unnamed soldier wasn’t Isaiah Crowell. These are all class of 2012 or 2013 recruits. Plus Crowell was very visible in Sanford Stadium during the team’s Saturday G-Day Game. Rest easy. Bizarre UGA sports stories haven’t gone that far off the rails yet.

Hawkins is the twin brother of Marqui Hawkins, who's listed as a six-foot-one 2013 QB/ATH by Scout. Rivals lists Bonner as a five-foot-11 2012 CB with offers from seven other schools, including Alabama, Auburn, and South Carolina. And then there's that other cat, a 16-year-old.

Stay tuned for more on this increasingly confounding story. Wally Butts wouldn’a stood for this, y’all.
