2011 SEC Baseball Championship Final Score: Florida Downs Vanderbilt, 5-0

The Florida Gators bombed the Vanderbilt Commodores 5-0 in the 2011 SEC baseball tournament title game, leaving no doubt by putting 10 hits on the board. Vandy put up nine hits of its own, amounting to a whole horde of Dores left on the bases.

This is Florida's first SEC tournament title since 1991, perhaps marking a return to the program's dominance of the 1980s. But we're getting ahead of ourselves.

Senior Alex Panteliodis held Vandy to five hits in his five innings, allowing just one walk and striking out five batters. Josh Adams, Bryson Smith and Daniel Pigott contributed a pair of hits each.

2011 SEC Baseball Championship Game: Florida, Vanderbilt Battle For Conference Title

Though they took differing paths to the 2011 SEC baseball tournament's final game, the Florida Gators and Vanderbilt Commodores have a chance to take home the conference championship in Hoover Sunday. The game is scheduled to air at 2 pm ET on ESPN2.

Vandy upset the top-ranked South Carolina Gamecocks to retake the high seed that had belonged to them for much of the regular season, while Florida needed a second try at the Georgia Bulldogs Saturday night to make it to the final round.

Florida took the season series from Vandy in mid-May, though that one loss was a 14-1 walloping and those two wins included a one-run victory and an extra-innings affair.

SEC Baseball Championship, Georgia Vs. Florida Score: UGA Wins, Needs One More

The Georgia Bulldogs continued their brief upset run through the 2011 SEC baseball tournament with a 4-3 Saturday victory over the No. 3 seed Florida Gators. They'll need to beat Florida again shortly, with a second game between the two scheduled for 5:45 pm ET -- if the Dawgs can take that victory, they'll advance to meet the Vanderbilt Commodores in Sunday's championship game.

UGA has a very strong case to make for a NCAA trip after downing the Gators.

Georgia and Florida tied at two runs each after the first inning, but it was the third inning that made the difference for the Bulldogs. Zach Cone achieved two hits, two RBI and no strikeouts.

Florida starter Brian Johnson was knocked out early on by a sharp throw from catcher Mike Zunino, who was attempting to pick off  a runner at second base. He regained consciousness and was taken to a nearby hospital.

SEC Baseball Tournament Scores, Schedule: Georgia Upsets South Carolina With Florida Up Next

The Georgia Bulldogs will need to take down a second highly ranked team in a row if they want to turn the 2011 SEC Tournament into a national bid. After beating the No. 2 seed South Carolina Gamecocks 4-2 Friday, they'll need a victory over the No. 3 Florida Gators to advance. They'll have someone special in their corner, as injured outfielder Jonathan Taylor is making the trip to cheer his teammates.

The Dawgs jumped on top of the Gamecocks early, securing a 3-0 first inning lead as Chase Davidson knocked in two quick runs.

Earlier, the Arkansas Razorbacks topped the Alabama Crimson Tide, 4-1, to get a chance at the Vanderbilt Commodores. Ryan Stanek was the hero, giving up a lonesome run in almost eight innings of work.

SEC Baseball Tournament Scores, Schedule: Wave Goodbye To Mississippi State, Auburn

The Arkansas Razorbacks opened Thursday's second-round action in the SEC Baseball Tournament by knocking off Mississippi State, 7-2, sending MSU home. Things went pear-shaped early for the Bizarro Bulldogs, who gave up four runs in a first inning that featured two fielding errors and two wild pitches. The Bizarro Bulldogs will find a shoulder to cry on in Auburn, which was eliminated in the second game of the morning, a 3-2 loss to Georgia.

Georgia now faces another elimination game, this time against top-seeded South Carolina, which fell to Vanderbilt 7-2yesterday afternoon. The Commodores broke open a close game with a four-run ninth inning, and after that pitcher Navery Moore needed only 10 pitches to snuff out the Gamecocks' last three shots at keying a comeback.

Arkansas' opponent, meanwhile, will be Alabama, which was shut out 6-0 by the Florida Gators. The Arkansas-Alabama game opens today's action; Vandy and Florida get to take a day off and await the winners of today's games.

Friday, May 27 (all games on CSS and ESPN3)

SEC Baseball Tournament Scores: Georgia Knocks Out Auburn, 3-2

The Georgia Bulldogs entered the second round of the 2011 SEC baseball tournament on the ropes, as did the Auburn Tigers. The Diamond Dawgs got the better of their SEC West rivals with a 3-2 victory, moving on to play the loser of Thursday's game between the South Carolina Gamecocks and Vanderbilt Commodores.

Alex Wood hurled a complete game, netting the W, allowing seven hits and recording eight strike outs. Outfielder Peter Verdin was the offensive standout, producing three hits and a stolen base in four at bats.

Carolina and Vandy will play after Alabama and Florida, meaning UGA will have to wait until the end of the round to discover their next opponent. That'll probably be Vandy, making for five of the last six games being played against the Dores, of which UGA has only won one.

SEC Baseball Tournament Scores, Schedule: Georgia, Auburn Battle To Stave Off Elimination

This morning's SEC Baseball Tournament action sees the Hoover Met turn into the functional equivalent of Thunderdome, as both games are of the "Two Teams Enter, One Team Leaves" variety. Arkansas (36-19, 15-15 SEC) and Mississippi State (34-22, 14-16), who suffered close losses to Alabama and Florida, respectively, in yesterday's opening round, begin play at 10:30 a.m. EDT. The Razorbacks were the #2 seed in the tournament after finishing on top of the Western Division (yep, with a .500 conference record).

That game will be followed immediately by Georgia-Auburn. The Tigers (29-28, 14-16) fell in predictable fashion, 7-3, to top-seeded South Carolina yesterday afternoon. Immediately after that, Georgia (28-29, 16-14) turned in probably the most embarrassing performance of the tournament's opening day by getting blanked 10-0 by Vanderbilt. The Dawgs had two errors and only one hit -- good on ya, Joey Delmonico -- and were effectively out of the game when Vandy homered in the bottom of the second inning and followed it with a pair of unearned runs after a fielding error by Curt Powell.

The winners' bracket begins action at 5:30 p.m. with Alabama (33-24, 14-16) taking on third-seeded Florida (42-15, 22-8). South Carolina (45-12, 22-8) and Vanderbilt (45-9, 22-8) play the late game, which, given their records, should provide the best baseball of the tournament so far.

Game 6: Auburn vs. Georgia, after Game 5
