Georgia Bulldogs great Hines Ward was "handcuffed at gunpoint" in the words of TMZ Thursday morning in Los Angeles, but wasn't arrested. According to the report the Dancing With The Stars contender was the passenger in a Honda Civic being driven by its owner, who had previously reported the car stolen "after an incident involving a valet," but forgot to tell police she'd recovered it.
Ward, who was the front-runner on DWTS the last time I checked -- no, literally, the last time I checked, which was weeks ago -- was reportedly polite and cooperative throughout the situation. As he spent much of his youth in Athens, he's got some experience with law enforcement reacting in a DEFCON TWO manner to hilarious misunderstandings.
Not sure whether to go with a Ben Roethlisberger or Damon Evans joke next. Ward has played for two teams that really give you a lot to work with. OK, I'm done.
