No High School Games For Texas Longhorn Network, Perhaps Curbing SEC Talk

Stay connected for news and updates

Update: Nope, let's get right back to speculating on how many ACC basketball teams the SEC will need to import in order to balance out its acquisitions of Oklahoma, Notre Dame and USC.

Reports of Texas A&M's imminent flight to the SEC might die down for another few months after Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe announced the new Texas Longhorns network won't be able to broadcast high school games. Wait, huh? Let's back up.

A&M, along with quite a few others, felt that Texas having the power to show high school games would give them an incredible recruiting advantage. They'd be able to send region-wide attention to players they were in the process of recruiting, something no school in the conference could compete with. That, along with various other inequalities, had Aggies fans looking strongly at the SEC. Again.

Big 12 commish Dan Bebee says Longhorn Network can't televise high school games. Big 12 is saved -- again. For now.less than a minute ago via TweetDeck Favorite Retweet Reply
