Georgia Vs. Ole Miss Final Score: Dawgs Pick Up Decisive SEC Win

Did you watch the first half between the Georgia Bulldogs and Mississippi Rebels? Then you saw pretty much everything that happened here. UGA entered the second half up 24-13, and nobody scored until Blair Walsh booted in a short field goal with four minutes remaining.

Walsh, one of the best at his position in the country, actually missed three kicks on the day, meaning it should've been 36-13 at that point. Georgia put up 274 more yards than Ole Miss did, so yeah.

Bacarri Rambo's second interception of the day all but sealed the game with a couple minutes left, leaving Isaiah Crowell to run down some clock. Crowell finished with 147 yards on 30 carries, with another freshman, Malcolm Mitchell, leading the Dawgs in receiving yards (92).

Nobody knows whether this is a game Mark Richt needed to win or not, but pretty much everybody agrees Houston Nutt needed to at least look competitive here. His team absolutely did not. Richt has now won nine straight games against Ole Miss.

UGA Vs. Ole Miss Halftime Score: Dawgs Control Ground, But Give Up Big Plays

The Georgia Bulldogs have are being challenged by a Mississippi Rebels team with little to lose, but lead 24-13 at the half in Oxford. The most recent score: an 82-yard punt return by Nickolas Brassell that of course was followed by a bobbled extra point. The Dawgs have dominated the running game, 128 yards to 16, but have given up two unconventional scores, one on defense and one on special teams.

A scary moment in the second quarter: punt returner Branden Smith let a kick bounce between his legs. The Rebels downed it inside the one, but it was very close to allowing an easy Ole Miss touchdown. Not to worry: the Rebels defense went offsides on the next play to give some of that space back. A 29-yard burst by Crowell did the rest.

Fellow Dream Teamer Malcolm Mitchell caught a beautiful over-the-shoulder pass from Aaron Murray, then ran and eventually stumbled for 69 yards into the red zone. A leaping touchdown catch by Orson Charles was the result, and Ole Miss just gave up an every-yard scoring drive.

The Rebels came right back with a skidding, 38-yard catch by Brassell and a reverse-flickery pass from Randall Mackey to Donte Moncrief for the touchdown, making it 17-7. An onside kick recovery by Jeff Scott later, and uh oh.

Mackey followed his first touchdown with a soaring pick under pressure into Bacarri Rambo's hands. A couple plays later, Murray struck Aron White for a 35-yard touchdown. After a slowish start, Murray now has 158 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 attempts -- and at least three of his incompletions were drops.

Georgia Vs. Ole Miss Score: Isaiah Crowell Leads To First Quarter Points

The Georgia Bulldogs lead the Mississippi Rebels, 3-0, after productive drives by each offense stalled on opposing turf. Blair Walsh: fine at kicking footballs.

A holding penalty on tight end Jamal Mosley nixed a lengthy touchdown sprint by Jeff Scott, but Ole Miss was able to muster a pair of third-down conversions before Cornelius Washington was able to sack Zack Stoudt despite being facemasked, killing the drive.

Speaking of third-down conversions, Isaiah Crowell made a nice four-yarder in Ole Miss territ'ry on Georgia's first chance with the ball, showing decent patience as he followed his escort. Georgia ran the ball well all throughout its drive, with Crowell and Carlton Thomas each breaking a run of 17 or more yards.

Passing the ball hasn't gone quite so well -- Aaron Murray is only one-of-four after one pass was tipped and another was dropped.

Georgia Vs. Ole Miss: TV Schedule, Game Time And More

"We still have a chance to win the SEC East. We know we should have won at least one of the games we lost, so we have a lot of frustration built up. We're taking this game against Ole Miss as a business trip. We're ready to go and focused on getting the win."

Game date, time: 12:21 pm ET, Saturday Sept 24

Location: Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, Oxford Mississippi

TV: ESPN3, SEC Network (Peachtree TV in Atlanta)

Georgia Vs. Ole Miss Spread, Odds Update: Bulldogs More Than A Touchdown Favorite In Oxford

The Georgia Bulldogs are a solid 10 point favorite to defeat Ole Miss on Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford Mississippi. Nearly 70 percent are wagering with the Bulldogs and laying the 10 points to the Rebels according to Oddshark.com.

Georgia is now 1-2 against the spread this season having covered last week's 35 point line against Coastal Carolina comfortably. That win was the Bulldogs first against the spread in its last six games. If recent history means anything, Georgia should be in good shape against Ole Miss having defeated the Rebels five consecutive times. The Bulldogs are also 4-1 against the Rebels in their last five trips to Oxford. Ole Miss is just 2-7 in their last nine games against the spread and just 1-5 in their last six games period.

The total number in this game is 54 with 63 percent of the bets on the under. Interestingly five of Georgia's last six games has gone over the number including all three games this season. Ole Miss has gone over the number in six of its last nine games but was only over against Southern Illinois this season.

2011 Georgia Football Schedule: Ole Miss Marks Dawgs' First True Road Trip Of The Season

While the Dawgs' opening month of the 2011 season can't exactly be called easy, they do at least get to play their first three games at home, or at least nearby. The fourth week of the season features the team's first true road trip of 2011, to Oxford, Miss., where the Ole Miss Rebels will be waiting. The Rebels have been a hard team to predict under Houston Nutt -- he steered them out of their embarrassing Ed Orgeron trough to go 18-8 his first two seasons, only to face-plant to 4-8 last year despite fielding a transfer QB with a Pac-10 title on his résumé. Regardless, Nutt has been a dangerous guy to overlook or underestimate.

BETTER KNOW THE REBELS
Coach: Houston Nutt, 22-16 in three years at Ole Miss; 133-86 overall
Last season: 4-8, 1-7 SEC; finished 6th in the SEC West and unranked
Returning starters for 2011: 16 (nine offense, five defense, two special teams)
Key returners: RB Branden Bolden, LT Bradley Sowell, CB Damien Jackson, DE Wayne Dorsey
Key losses: DE Kentrell Lockett, NT Jerrell Powe, WR Markeith Summers, QB Jeremiah Masoli

Best-case scenario: Isaiah Crowell racks up big numbers against a weakened Ole Miss front seven, giving the Dawgs a confidence-building win as they head into the heart of their SEC schedule. The Rebels ranked near the bottom of the conference in every defensive category last season, and it's hard to see that improving much with the biggest contributors on their defensive front moving on (and with linebacker D.T. Shackelford likely to miss the season with a torn ACL). If the Dawgs win in Oxford and at least split the Boise State and South Carolina games, they'd be no worse than 3-1 heading into the second month of the season -- the exact reverse of their record at the same point last year.

Worst-case scenario: Quarterback Randall Mackey manages to exploit the weaknesses in Georgia's secondary and lead the Rebs to a win. Make no mistake, the Rebels' QB situation is less than optimal -- first Jeremiah Masoli belly-flopped throughout most of 2011, then his presumptive successor, Nathan Stanley, got fed up with his spring depth-chart descent and transferred -- but Georgia simply doesn't have enough warm bodies in the secondary at this point, particularly at safety, to be overconfident about anything related to pass defense. And while Georgia's improving front seven should be able to take some heat off the DBs by applying greater pressure to Mackey, the Ole Miss offensive front returns all five starters from last year and should be formidable. The Dawgs suffered a stunning loss on their last late-September road trip to the Magnolia State -- they can't afford to let that happen again.
