The Boise St. Broncos entered the Georgia Dome with something to prove. This is the way they enter every building. The Georgia Bulldogs had almost the entire crowd at their backs, had the talent advantage and boasted perhaps the SEC's best quarterback. Boise State's uniforms looked much better. Maybe that was the difference.
In front of 73,614, the Broncos won a 35-21 victory over a traditional Southeastern Conference power that will convince one more slice of the country that Chris Petersen's crew is for real. Georgia came within 17 yards of Boise State, but 131 of UGA's 373 came on two plays.
After the game, Mark Richt talked about the new offensive wrinkles the Dawgs attempted. No-huddle, lots of shotgun ... the Georgia offense that's been known as pro style looked, in two words, more collegiate. There are going to be challenges in trying new things, and deploying stuff like this against a very good defense that plays against west coast teams regularly was a big gamble. Could be promising for the rest of the season, though.
