Georgia Tech Vs. Maryland Final Score: Yellow Jackets Fall 61-50

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets fall to 1-2 in ACC play with a 61-50 loss to the Maryland Terrapins in College Park. The Yellow Jackets never could get on track offensively and every time they made a run, Maryland had an answer.

Glen Rice Jr scored more than 20 points in both of his previous ACC contests but was the focal point of the Maryland defense in this one. Sean Mosley drew the assignment for most of the day with Rice finishing 2-8 for six points in the game. Without Rice, Tech's offense struggled with only Kammeon Holsey finishing the game as a double figure scorer with 11 points.

Mosley led the way for the Terrapins with 18 points including 10-10 from the charity stripe. James Padgett and Terrell Stoglin each score 14 points with Padgett grabbing a team-high nine rebounds.

With the win, Maryland improves to 12-4 overall and 2-1 in ACC play. The Yellow Jackets fall to 8-9 on the season and 1-2 in the conference.

Georgia Tech Vs. Maryland Score: Yellow Jackets Trailing 24-19 At Halftime

Georgia Tech is locked up in a defensive contest with the Maryland Terrapins and are trailing 24-19 at halftime. Neither team shot better than 25.9 percent in the first half and turned the ball over a combined 15 times.

After topping 20 points in both of Tech's ACC contests, Glen Rice Jr has drawn most of Maryland's defensive attention. Rice has hit one of his two field goal attempts and has two points. None of his fellow teammates have stepped up with Jason Morris leading all Tech scorers with five points.

The Terrapins haven't been much better but they do hold an early 21-15 rebounding advantage. Terrell Stoglin leads all scorers with seven points. James Padgett added six points and five rebounds for Maryland.

The defensive effort from both clubs often made it look like they had six players on the floor. Georgia Tech actually employed the strategy once in the first half when Kammeon Holsey failed to leave the floor after a Tech substitution resulting in a technical foul for the Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech Vs. Maryland Time, TV, Radio Info And More

Georgia Tech hopes to ride the momentum of Wednesday's road victory over N.C. State into their Sunday matchup with Maryland. The Yellow Jackets evened their conference mark at 1-1 with that 82-71 win over the Wolfpack and enter Sunday with an 8-8 record overall.

After a lackluster run though the non-conference schedule that included losses to Tulane, Mercer and Fordham, the Yellow Jackets gave Duke all they wanted in the ACC opener and then defeated the Wolfpack on the road. Their recent good play suddenly has Tech feeling pretty good about themselves.

Said head coach Brian Gregory, "We're changing that mentality where you really embrace that challenge of going into a tough environment and playing well and playing tough with kind of a blue-collar approach."

They will need to continue that blue-collar approach against a Maryland team that is 11-4 overall and also 1-1 in the ACC. N.C. State snapped a seven game win streak by Maryland in the ACC opener but the Terrapins bounced back to defeat Wake Forest 70-64 on Wednesday.

Game date/time: Sunday, January 15, 4:00 p.m. ET

Location: College Park, Maryland

Georgia Vs. Vanderbilt, Final Score: Bulldogs Can't Keep Up In 77-66 Loss

Georgia proved to be pesky on the road against Vanderbilt, pulling to 62-60 late in the second half on a Vincent Williams three-pointer, but the Commodores would hang on to escape with a 77-66 win. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had a team-high 19 points for the Bulldogs, but Georgia couldn't compete with Vanderbilt on the free throw line (30 of 44 for the Commodores, 16 of 20 for UGA), including hitting seven of eight attempts with a minute remaining in regulation, and rebounding (a 35-27 VU advantage).

Georgia has now lost three in a row, all in conference play, to move to 9-8 (0-3 SEC), while Vandy (13-4, 3-0) remains perfect in conference play. The Bulldogs will return home to Stegman Coliseum to host Tennessee on Wednesday.

Mercer Vs. Kennesaw State Final Score: Owls Fall To Bears, 81-51

The Kennesaw St. Owls losing streak continued at five games and they have lost 12 of their last 13 games as they were crushed by the Mercer Bears 81-51 Friday night. At the half, Kennesaw State kept the game close at the half where they trailed by only 11 points, and started the second half on a good run to cut into Mercer's lead to trail by only four. However, once Kennesaw State made the score 34-30, Mercer went on a 12-0 run and never looked back in this game.

The Kennesaw State starters did not have a great game as only two of the five starters put up points on the board with Markeith Cummings scoring 10 points with Romain Henry contributing with five points. They also had four total players scored in double figures at 10 points.

However that was no match for Mercer's bench who scored 70 of 81 points from their bench and were led by Langston Hall who led all scorers with 17 points. A big difference tonight was that Mercer shot lights out by making 61 percent of their shots compared to only 35 percent to Kennesaw State.

Kennesaw State's next game is on Jan. 19 to take on the Charlotte 49ers.

Georgia Vs. Florida Score: Bulldogs Trail Gators 35-21 At Halftime

As was expected, the Georgia Bulldogs struggled through the first half of their matchup with the Florida Gators Tuesday night trailing 35-21 at halftime. The bigger Gators have had their way inside hitting half of their field goal attempts by pounding away at the Bulldogs' frontcourt.

Without a low post threat, Florida's defense has clamped down on the perimeter and made things tough offensively for Georgia. Nemanja Djurisic was the lone bright spot in the first half finishind with 10 points and three rebounds and the game's lone highlight for Georgia. While sandwiched between two defenders at the free throw line, Djurisic turned and tossed the ball off of the backboard and retrieved it for the lay in.

Bradley Beal leads all scorers in the first half with 12 points hitting 4-5 from beyond-the-arc. Mike Rosario came of the bench to score seven. Patric Young netted six points and grabbed five rebounds in the first half.
