Chris Sanders Headed To Georgia Military College, Hopeful For Return To Athens

Dismissed former Bulldogs defensive back Chris Sanders is headed to Georgia Military College for the next six months and has an eye on an eventual return to Athens. Sanders was dismissed from the team last week along with teammates Nick Marshall and Sanford Seay.

What led to Sanders' dismissal seems to be unrelated to that of Marshall and Seay and at least on the surface, it seems possible that he could find his way back to Athens once his stint at GMC is over.

"Of course Coach Richt was disappointed," Sanders said of his infraction. "He asked me what happened, and I explained to him what happened. Of course he felt bad, and I felt bad. But I was honest with him."

Mark Richt hasn't said one way or the other whether or not Sanders would be welcomed back to the program but it wouldn't be the first time that a player ended up at GMC and then returned to the Bulldogs. Former standout linebacker Odell Thurman went on to good two-year career with the Bulldogs after a stint at GMC.
