NCAA Basketball Rankings: Georgia Knocks Mississippi State Down Three Spots In Coaches Poll

The Georgia Bulldogs keep taking down some of the top teams in SEC. First it was Arkansas, then it was Mississippi State as the Mark Fox's basketball team have found a groove as of late.

Mississippi State remained in the Top 25, but just barely, as they sit at No. 23 in the latest college basketball rankings. The top two teams, Kentucky and Syracuse, remain unchanged in the polls. The Wildcats are a unanimous No. 1 choice in this week's ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, receiving all 31 first-place votes in the poll released Monday afternoon.

Kentucky and Syracuse are followed by Missouri, Duke and Kansas in the top five. Duke and Kansas both put together strong weeks, making big jumps after being ranked ninth and 10th last week, respectively. Ohio St., North Carolina, Michigan St. and Baylor round out the top ten.

Gonzaga (No. 24) and Notre Dame (25) both bumped into the rankings, with Creighton (previously No. 15) and Harvard 21) dropping out.

Georgia Vs. Mississippi State Final Score: Dawgs Pull Another Upset, 70-68

In a game that went into overtime, the Georgia Bulldogs are proving to be worthy of "the upset special" as Mark Fox's basketball team took their talents to Starkville, Mississippi and pulled out a 70-68 win over the No. 18 ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope's 20 points and 8 rebounds were huge for Georgia, as Caldwell-Pope's 6 three-pointers helped keep them in the game. Mississippi State's Dee Bost had 21 points and Jalen Steele also contributed 15 points off the bench, but poor shot selection late in the game cost Mississippi State as this was a game that frankly a No. 18 team should win.

Georgia can not only claim bragging rights in the "Battle of the Bulldogs" but they are now back to being a .500 team, as a young team like Mark Fox has is starting to figure out ways to win games.

Georgia Vs. Mississippi State Halftime Update: Dee Bost's 13 Points Gives Mississippi State 34-31 Lead Over Georgia

Dee Bost's 13 points and 2 assists have given the Mississippi State Bulldogs a 34-31 advantage over the Georgia Bulldogs at home at Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville. Bost has hit three big threes thus far and Renardo Sidney has 7 points and 8 rebounds to help cleanup down low versus Georgia.

Georgia's biggest contributor has been Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, as his 14 points and 2 rebounds have helped keep the game close. Mark Fox's team is just 11-12 on the season, but his team has played tough versus the No. 18 team in the country.
