National Signing Day Rankings, 2012: Georgia Finishes In The Top 10

Georgia's 2012 football recruiting class finished National Signing Day as a fitting bookend to their wildly successful 2011 installment (don't forget that campaign to fire head coach Mark Richt and a SEC Eastern Division title sammich'd in between, no less!), with a Top 10 finish in SB Nation's final tally.

The SB Nation recruiting class ranking is an average of the four major recruiting services' rankings (Rivals, Scout, 24/7 and ESPN). Based on those numbers, the Bulldogs' class of 19 overall commitments finished 10th nationally, making them one of only two teams (No. 5 Florida State also had 19 commits) in the Top 10 with under 20 new players. The Bulldogs' final evaluation also deferred wildly from service to service (possibly because of the low total of players causing skewed averages?): Georgia was as high as No. 5 (ESPN) and as low as No. 19 (Rivals).

The best news for Bulldog fans is that the class finished third in the SEC, and second in the Eastern Division (Alabama was No. 1, and Florida was a strong No. 3, despite losing the Josh Harvey-Clemons battle to the Dawgs). Division rivals South Carolina (No. 16) and Tennessee (No. 20), rounded out the SEC East, trailing the SEC West by one team (Bama, LSU, Texas A&M, Auburn and Mississippi State all placed in the Top 25).
