Chris Sanders Dismissed By Georgia Along With Nick Marshall, Sanford Seay

Three University of Georgia freshman football players have been dismissed from the football team for a "violation of team rules," according to a statement released by the university. Freshman defensive back Chris Sanders from Tucker, Georgia, is the third named player to be dismissed.

As previously reported, freshman cornerback Nick Marshall and freshman wide receiver Sanford Seay were let go from the team. Fox5 in Atlanta reported that the pair was dismissed for their role in the theft of $500 worth of money and valuables from another Georgia player. The Athens Banner-Herald is reporting that Sanders' dismissal may or may not be related to this incident, or stem from unrelated circumstances.

Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt released the following statement:

"It’s a privilege to play college football and to be a part of this team and University. Along with that privilege comes certain responsibilities. Mistakes were made and part of our job is helping them learn from mistakes. Going forward, we are committed to assisting them find opportunities where they can continue their education."

Sanders played in three games as a true freshman in the 2011 season, recording tackles against Coastal Carolina and Boise State. Of the three freshmen, Marshall saw the most time at Georgia, playing in 13 games last season, while Seay was redshirted and unlikely to see much (if any) time at receiver in 2012.
