The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets advance to the Sweet 16 of the 2012 NCAA Women's Tournament with a 76-64 win over Georgetown. The Yellow Jackets will take on top ranked and undefeated Baylor on Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets grabbed an early lead and never let Georgetown get any closer than eight in the second half. Sydney Wallace scored 23 points to lead Georgia Tech while Sasha Goodlett added 14 points and 11 rebounds. Sugar Rodgers led the Hoyas with 14 points and Tia Magee chipped in 10.
The win continues the best season in school history for Georgia Tech who had never won multiple games in any of its previous seven trips to the tournament. The Yellow Jackets also set school records for wins, conference wins and its best overall seed in the tournament.
