Vanderbilt Vs. Kentucky Final Score: Commodores Pull Off Upset Over Wildcats, 71-64

A wild second half of Sunday's 2012 SEC Tournament championship between the undefeated in the conference's regular season Kentucky Wildcats and the upstart Vanderbilt Commodores led to arguably the biggest win in Commodores history. The Wildcats led 62-55 with five minutes to go, but the Commodores defense stepped up and only allowed two points the rest of the way. Vanderbilt's offense stepped up, hit key free throws and crashed the boards to secure the 71-64 win.

Terence Jones finished the game with 12 points and co-led the team along with Anthony Davis with 10 rebounds. Darius Miller led the Wildcats in scoring with 16 points on 7-for-17 shooting. Jeffery Taylor and Festus Ezeli led the Commodores in scoring with 18 and 17 points, respectively. Taylor also had 12 rebounds as well as two key first half 3-pointers.

Vanderbilt has predicted to be a No. 6 seed in SB Nation's latest bracketology rankings but could climb even higher after winning the SEC title, while Kentucky has already locked in the tournament's No. 1 overall seed.

SEC Championship 2012: Game Time, TV Schedule And More

The Kentucky Wildcats and the Vanderbilt Commodores will clash in the finals of the 2012 SEC Tournament from the New Orleans Arena.

After a couple of tough wins in the earlier rounds of the tournament, Kentucky head coach John Calipari thinks that his team is more prepared for the ruggedness that the NCAA Tournament will bring.

"I've got this team that has that will to win. They want to win. They have great pride," coach John Calipari said. "We're just a really young team and every one of these experiences is good for my team."

The Wildcats won both regular season matchups winning on the road 69-63 and defeating the Commodores 83-74 at Rupp Arena.

NCAA Selection Sunday 2012: Time, TV Schedule And More

There won't be much of a local feel to the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday since no team from the state of Georgia will be capturing a bid to the tournament. Both Georgia and Georgia Tech suffered their way through tough seasons. The Yellow Jackets were knocked out of the first round of the ACC Tournament by Miami, and Georgia was bounced in the second round of the SEC Tournament.

Georgia State and Mercer had solid seasons in their respective conferences, and Georgia Southern improved over last season. Kennesaw State reminded Georgia and Georgia Tech fans in the state that yes things could be much worse. The state's best chance for a tournament team looked like it would be Savannah State, who earned the top seed in the MEAC Tournament but promptly was upset by eight seeded Hampton in the second round of the tournament.

However, Atlanta does get to host a regional, and the SEC and ACC could be represented by almost a dozen combined teams, according to Saturday's bracketology.

SEC Tournament 2012: Day Three Bracket, Schedule And More

Most everything has gone chalk in New Orleans, as the 2012 SEC Tournament is down to four teams, and three are the top four seeds. The only notable upset thus far was No. 7 seeded Ole Miss knocking off No. 2 Tennessee on Friday night in overtime, 77-72.

Nationally No. 1 ranked Kentucky, Florida and Vanderbilt are all NCAA Tournament locks, with the Wildcats expected to take the top overall seed, but the Rebels are somewhere on the bubble. The win over the Vols moved them to 20 wins, but most analysts think they need to beat Vandy on Saturday to get into the field of 68. Meanwhile the Gators would enjoy a huge boost in both RPI and potential seeding in the NCAA's if they could beat Kentucky, who has swept the Gators in two games this year.

Four players finished in double figures for the Commodores led by John Jenkins' 15 points. Brad Tinsley added 12 while Festus Ezeli and Lance Goulbourne each had 10.

Donte Williams, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Marcus Thornton all picked up two fouls in the first half forcing Mark Fox to play 11 different players in the game.

SEC Basketball Tournament, Georgia Vs. Vanderbilt: Game Time, TV Schedule And More

Uh oh - is this the Georgia spoiler team of 2008 all over again? The Athens Bulldogs (15-16, 5-11) put a serious dent in the NCAA hopes of the Mississippi State Bulldogs Thursday night, upsetting MSU 71-61 off of senior Gerald Robinson's 23 points. Now they'll move on to face NCAA Tournament lock Vanderbilt (21-10) on Friday, and would have to beat the 'Dores, the winner of Friday night's Ole Miss / Tennessee game and one more game (likely against No. 1 ranked Kentucky) to get to the Big Dance. Seems crazy, except this is the team that did just that four years ago in this tournament.
