2012 UGA Football: Christian LeMay Still In Competition For Back Up QB Job

Aaron Murray's spot as the No. 1 quarterback is as secure as a Masterlock. However, the No. 2 quarterback position is much less secure. Christian LeMay has been projected to take the No. 2 spot but is battling stiff competition from Hutson Mason and walk-on Parker Welch.

LeMay finished 7 of 10 passing for 154 yards with a touchdown and interception in his latest and greatest scrimmage, but his battles with consistency is a concern for the Georgia Bulldogs coaching staff. LeMay's biggest critic, his offensive coordinator Mike Bobo:

"Right now there isn’t any decision about who’s going to be the backup. LeMay’s come a million miles from last year. …He shows flashes, but we’ve got to become more consistent."

The life and times of the SEC can mean that your quarterback could be down for the count at any given moment, and if Murray goes down then Mark Richt would love to have a signal caller to lean on who can keep an emerging offense calm under pressure. Christian LeMay, your time is now.
