University of Georgia President Michael Adams confirmed earlier reports that he would indeed be retiring from his post in June of 2013 this morning during an announcement presentation at a campus chapel.
Adams' statement: "There comes a time when it is appropriate to step aside to let others continue the work, and that time has come for me."

Adams and his wife were met with a standing ovation by a large crowd as they entered the chapel. During his 10-minute speech, Adams said he will officially step down as President on June 13, 2013 and would then re-join the University's faculty.
By making the announcement early it will give the Board of Regents plenty of time to begin the search for Adams' successor.
