Isaiah Crowell Arrest Leads To Release From Team

Isaiah Crowell has been released from the Georgia Bulldogs football team following his arrest on weapons charges early Friday morning. It comes at a major letdown not just for the Dawgs fanbase, but particularly for a talent like Crowell, who was considered the No.1-rated running back in the country when he came to UGA in 2011.

That potential won't be reached, at least not in Athens. Georgia coach Mark Richt made the announcement of Crowell's dismissal around 5 p.m. ET. Richt had this to say:

"We have a dedicated and committed group of men who are working hard to prepare for the coming season. Our total focus will be directed toward the team and this effort."

Crowell's past is a bit troubled and well-documented. He couldn't seem to stay out of his own way in his short time at UGA. There was a suspension last season, supposedly for a failed drug test, and injuries plagued him as well.
