2012 UGA Football Offseason: Georgia, Florida Agree To Not Entertain Recruits During Annual Matchup

Georgia and Florida have decided not to take advantage of a newly instituted SEC rule that allows the designated home team in a neutral site game to host recruits.

Bulldogs athletics director Greg McGarity cited logistical concerns when explaining the decision. Georgia gets about 40,000 tickets that the annual game in Jacksonville and has sold its entire allotment for the last 20 years.

"Right now, it's such a difficult ticket for that game, and you would need in the neighborhood of 500-600 tickets for recruits that you would have to free up. Obviously, those seats would have to be good seats.

"Who do you take those recruiting tickets from? You're not going to take your top boosters and bump them,"

With the game taking place in Florida with would be advantageous for Georgia from a recruiting standpoint even if it isn't feasible in regards to tickets.
