Tennessee Vs. Georgia: Mark Richt reminds team about 2004 loss to Vols

Georgia Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt is preparing his team to face the Tennessee Volunteers by making sure their egos don't get in the way of their preparation. Richt made sure to remind the team that Georgia had been in this situation before, reports the Macon Telegraph.

In 2004, Georgia was 5-0, ranked No. 3, and favored to beat the Volunteers. Tennessee upset the Bulldogs at home, winning 19-14. Richt, quoted in the Telegraph:

"I just told them that this situation just reminded me of that season," Richt said. "We played a game like we played against Vanderbilt when we played LSU (the week before) in '04. It was one of those what you would call complete game, or people would try to say that. Evertything just seemed to work that day. Everything went well that day. And then the very next week we were favored to beat Tennessee, Tennessee came in with their freshman quarterback and beat us. So I just wanted them to understand that it could happen and we better get our minds right."

Since that loss, the Bulldogs have gone 4-3 against the Vols. Georgia is currently 4-0 and ranked No. 5. If Richt wants to see 5-0 and keep climbing the rankings, he knows he needs to keep his team humble and focused.
