The Georgia Bulldogs will name the home radio booth at Sanford Stadium after legendary announcer Larry Munson, who died last November after 42 years calling Bulldogs games, writes the Athens Banner-Herald.
The "Larry Munson Broadcast Suite" will be christened before Saturday's home game against the Tennessee Volunteers.
Munson retired in 2008 after broadcasting Bulldogs games since 1966. There will be a plaque outside of the suite that reads:
"Dedicated to legendary Bulldog play-by-play announcer Larry Munson who served as the voice of the Bulldog Nation from 1966-2008. His dedication, loyalty, passion and extraordinary delivery over 42 years endeared him to Georgia fans in every city, state, and nation around the world, always urging the teams, and fans, to ‘hunker down you guys.'"
Georgia fans hold Munson in highest esteem for his many famous calls over the years. He died in 2011 from complications from pneumonia just a few years after retiring from the broadcast booth. He was 89.
