Georgia Bulldogs men's basketball coach Mark Fox believes that his team can be better this season. The Bulldogs lost only two players off last year's roster, Gerald Robinson and Dustin Ware. Although the team went 15-17 overall last season, Fox believes that this year's team will be more competitive, according to Roger Clarkson of Dog Bytes Online:
"We have more pieces this year," Georgia coach Mark Fox said. "We're a deeper basketball team. We're more athletic. We're a more physical group and we're certainly a more experienced group than we were last year.
The Bulldogs went 5-11 in the SEC last season. Despite losing Robinson's 14.2 points per game and Ware's 8.1, Fox believes that the team will be ready for conference play this year:
We are going to miss the experience of Gerald Robinson and Dustin Ware in the backcourt but that's really the only key pieces we lost off of last year's team. We just have more guys who are ready for (Southeastern Conference) play."
The Bulldogs start preseason practice Friday with the BasketBASH at Stegeman Colliseum starting at 7 p.m. Their first regular season game will be on Friday Nov. 9 as they host the Jacksonville Dolphins.
