Chris Graythen

The UGA Bulldogs took the win in their season-opening game against the Jacksonville Dolphins, winning behind 17 points from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

The Georgia Bulldogs came out on top in their season-opener, beating the Jacksonville Dolphins, 68-62. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope started his sophomore year off by leading the team in scoring, with 17 points that came mainly on free throws.

Caldwell-Pope was just 3 of 12 on field goals, but he made 10 of 12 free throw attempts. He also had six rebounds and five steals on the night. Nemanja Djurisic had the best shooting, going 5 for 9 and scoring 14 points while grabbing 12 boards, giving him a double-double.

The Bulldogs shot just 40.8 percent collectively, but they held the Dolphins to 37.7 percent. Keith McDougald led Jacksonville on the floor with 13 points.

Georgia's homestand continues with their second game, a Monday-night game against the Youngstown State Penguins, but the real matchup everyone is waiting for is the Nov. 19 game against the No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers. Jacksonville will return home to face Trinity Baptist.
