The Georgia Lady Bulldogs defeated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Sunday at McCamish Pavilion, 60-50. In the game, guard Jasmine Hassell scored 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting. This was a year after she scored 24 points on 9-of-10 shooting last season.
Lady Bulldogs head coach Andy Landers was more than thrilled with how she performed in the game:
"Hassell was just fantastic. What she's done against Tech the past two seasons ... wow!"
The Lady Bulldogs built a double-digit lead in the first half and kept the difference around there for the remainder of the game, leading 52-36 with about three and a half minutes left in the second half. For the entire game, the Lady Bulldogs held the Yellow Jackets to 30.2 percent shooting. Landers said that his team played well for most of the game up until the end:
"In the first half, I thought we executed very well and did a solid job on both ends of the floor. We played reasonably well in the second half until we let their press get to us late."
The Lady Bulldogs are now at 9-0 for the season with their next game scheduled to be against the Mercer Bears on Tuesday at Stegeman Coliseum. Tipoff for that game is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
