Georgia's standout linebacker is nursing a sprained ankle suffered in the loss to South Carolina.

A bye week for Georgia has been fortuitous for one major concern: linebacker Jarvis Jones injured his right ankle in the Bulldogs' loss at South Carolina, and missed his second straight day of practice on Wednesday. Georgia went to a full-pads practice during the bye week to simulate a real game.

Jones has arguably been Georgia's most talented starter on defense this season, with one interceptions, 37 tackles and 5.5 sacks in just five game appearances. Head coach Mark Richt told the Athens Banner-Herald that keeping Jones out was just precautionary:

"We just want to get him rested up 100 percent. He probably could have played this week. It’s just that time of the year where we’re allowed to let a guy get to the point where hopefully he’s not even sore anymore.

"…He’s definitely one where we’re going to allow to get as healthy as possible before we get going again on Kentucky on Monday."
