Bowl projections 2012: Georgia projected to play in the Sugar Bowl

At the midway point of the regular season, the Georgia Bulldogs are projected to play in the Sugar Bowl.

Coming off their first loss of the season, the Georgia Bulldogs are currently third in the SEC East, but that didn't stop one college football analyst from predicting the Bulldogs will play in the Sugar Bowl this season.

In his weekly bowl projections, Jerry Palm of CBS Sports predicts the Bulldogs to find their way into a BCS game. Palm predicts Alabama to win the SEC championship, but with the Crimson Tide playing in the national title game, he slots Georgia into the Sugar Bowl.

While the Bulldogs are currently behind a few teams in the SEC standings, the Sugar Bowl is not required to select the loser of the SEC championship game. In his scenario, Palm predicts the Bulldogs to win out in the regular season. In the projection, Georgia would face the Louisville Cardinal who Palm predicts as the Big East champion. The Sugar Bowl is scheduled for January 2 in New Orleans.

At 2-4, Georgia Tech is not currently projected to play in a bowl. The Yellow Jackets would have to win four of their remaining six games to become bowl eligible.
