Georgia Bulldogs nose guard Kwame Geathers took advantage of a position switch against Tennessee and should see more playing time against South Carolina this Saturday.

With Georgia Bulldogs starting defensive end Abry Jones limited last week with a sprained ankle, Bulldogs defensive coordinator Todd Grantham decided to start backup nose guard Kwame Geathers at Jones' position against the Tennessee Volunteers base offense.

Geathers took advantage of the start, recording three tackles against the Volunteers, with two of those for a loss.

In an interview with Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald, Grantham explained why he made the switch and expect to see more of Geathers at defensive end while Jones recovers from his ankle injury,

"We thought we could take some base snaps off of (Jones) by playing those two guys in base. I think it was the right thing to do. Just trying to spread it out a little bit and find ways to reduce the number of plays those guys have to play. We'll continue to do that as we move forward if we need that."

According to Weiszer, Jones was in a walking boot after practice on Monday, but should be able to play against South Carolina this Saturday.
