Georgia Football: Aaron Murray named SEC Player of the Week

Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Aaron Murray was named SEC Player of the Week after his performance against the Kentucky Wildcats Saturday.

Georgia Bulldogs junior quarterback Aaron Murray was named the SEC Player of the Week after his stellar play against the Kentucky Wildcats Saturday, which his a first for the Tampa, FL native.

Murray was almost perfect against the Wildcats, going 30-38 for 427 yards and four touchdowns in Georgia's 29-24 victory. According to Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald, Murray's 78.95 percent completion percentage is the highest for a single game in Georgia history.

In addition to his Player of the Week Honors, Murray was named as one of 16 semifinalists for the 2012 Davey O'Brien Award, which is given to the best quarterback in the nation. Along with Murray the SEC was represented by A.J. McCarron of Alabama and Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M.

Other notable names includes Collin Klein of Kansas State, Geno Smith of West Virginia, USC's Matt Barkley and Marcus Mariota from Oregon. The three finalists for the O'Brien Award will be announced on Nov. 19.
