Georgia vs. Florida: Hurricane Sandy will make for interesting conditions Saturday

Scott Cunningham

Saturday's forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of rain and winds with speeds up to 22 mph.

Weather could play a major factor in the Georgia Bulldogs' game against the Florida Gators in Jacksonville, Fla., on Saturday, according to a report in the Athens Banner-Herald.

Hurricane Sandy is making its way toward the East Coast, and its impact could potentially be felt throughout college stadiums this weekend. Georgia's game against Florida, which could have massive ramifications on the SEC and national title races, is in line to see some particularly intense weather, with Saturday's forecast for Jacksonville calling for winds up to 22 mph and a 40 percent chance of rain.

Georgia coach Mark Richt has been keeping a close eye on the weather this week.

"That's a lot of wind," Richt told the Athens Banner-Herald. "That does affect the game more than just rain. I've been in some games where the winds just totally changed the game. If it's a crosswind, it's even probably more of an issue than if it's in your face or behind you ... Hopefully it changes course."
