South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier is excited for Saturday's game against the Georgia Bulldogs. What does he think is the key to defeating the Bulldogs?

South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier is eagerly awaiting Saturday's game against the Georgia Bulldogs. Though Spurrier is no stranger to big games in the SEC, this game may be his biggest as coach of the Gamecocks.

Last week, the Gamecocks were trailing the Kentucky Wildcats 17-7 at halftime, but scored 31 unanswered points to win and push their record to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference. Spurrier said that their struggles last Saturday led to a wake-up call, according to John Boyette of Dog Bytes Online:

"We've got to be scared to death every time we go to the ballpark," Spurrier said Tuesday at his weekly news conference. "We've got to make them realize we can get beat by anybody, anybody, if you don't play the game."

In his career, Spurrier has gone 14-5 overall against the Bulldogs. Spurrier believes that they have to beat the Bulldogs defense:

"Their defense has been out there a bunch. They've stopped people in the fourth quarter," he said. "It reminds me of Auburn a couple years ago. In the fourth quarter they stopped people and won every game somehow doing that.

The Gamecocks will be going for a school-record tenth straight win dating back to last season. Spurrier was brought to South Carolina to put them in games like this, so he's excited for this opportunity:

"This isn't the end of the year no matter what happens, win, lose or draw," he said. "It is a crucial game. We're really just going one at a time. This is a stretch, and this week it's all about Georgia. When this one's over we'll focus in on the next team."
