Georgia Tech vs. Clemson: Paul Johnson calls offensive line performance a 'mixed bag'

Kevin Liles-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

At Tuesday's press conference, Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson talked about how the offensive line has been inconsistent due to injuries this year.

At Tuesday's press conference, Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson talked about a myriad of topics, including how the offensive line has not played to their ability.

Heading into the season, Georgia Tech was returning four of their five starters off of their 2011 season, but injuries have derailed that. The projected starting line was to include Ray Beno, Jay Finch, Omoregie Uzzi, Morgan Bailey and Will Jackson.

Injuries to Will Jackson and Morgan Bailey have kept the line from seeking its full potential, and Johnson's comments were quite candid on his assessment of the line's play so far this season:

"They've had their moments," he said. "Have they played as good as I thought they would play to this point? Truthfully, probably not consistently, but that doesn't mean they've played poorly."

Johnson also spoke on fan's expectations of this team, and went on to say that no one's expectations are as high as his own. He also understands that every fan base wants to win every week, and that he will get back to work and try to end this two-game losing streak the team is on.
