Georgia Southern Vs. Georgia: Eagles' option prepares Bulldogs for Georgia Tech

Dale Zanine-US PRESSWIRE

Georgia will have to defend the option for a second-straight game next Saturday.

The Georgia Bulldogs faced an option attack when they took on the Georgia Southern Eagles on Saturday, and they will see another when they face Georgia Tech next week. Georgia held the Eagles to 14 points with the help of a couple fumble recoveries, and they are hoping that experience will help next Saturday.

Bulldogs defensive coordinator Todd Grantham was asked after Georgia's 45-14 win over Georgia Southern what it will be like to defend the option for a second-straight week. He believe seeing similar concepts will be beneficial, according to macon.com:

"I guess that's the positive to it, we got to play against these guys this week, and there'll be some carryover. I mean Georgia Tech does it a little different than these guys in terms of the plays they run. But the concepts are the same, the blocks are the same. So I think thart part will help us a little bit."

Georgia has some room to improve against Georgia Tech. The FCS Eagles were able to pick up 5.2 yards per carry, gaining a total of 302 yards rushing on 58 attempts.

The Yellow Jackets will provide a much stiffer challenge, as they are gaining 5.7 yards per carry on the year. They have rushed for 3,574 yards and 45 touchdowns, contributing to their 38.5 points per game average.
