Stay connected for news and updates

The Georgia Southern Eagles had a good showing against the No. 3 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide as they gave Alabama a game for a half, only down 24-14. The second half was another story as Alabama outscored Georgia Southern 21-7 to pull away for the win. The only score for Georgia Southern came on a 95 yard kick off return by Laron Scott.

The Eagles were able to rush the ball extremely well against the Alabama defense that has been tops in the nation and only allowing 51 yards per game, but Dominique Swope was able to break free and ended up with 153 yards and a score with a touchdown run of 83 yards. On the day the Georgia Southern rushing offense came away with 302 yards.

On the Alabama side Heisman trophy candidate running back Trent Richardson rushed led Alabama by rushing for 175 yards and two scores.

This game finishes the regular season for Georgia Southern and up next for them is the FCS playoffs.
