Georgia Southern Vs. NDSU Final Score: Eagles Playoff Run Ends

Georgia Southern's run for a championship has come to an end at the hands of North Dakota State. North Dakota State scored the last 27 points in this game and 20 second half points to win 35-7 and advance to the FCS championship against Sam Houston State. Georgia Southern turning over the ball three times did not help their cause in this game -- North Dakota State scored 21 points off of those.

Heading into the second half North Dakota State had only a 14-7 lead over Georgia Southern. Georgia Southern came out on their first drive in the second half and was moving the ball. It looked like they were going to tie the game when Jaybo Shaw completed a pass to J.J. Wilcox, but North Dakota State's John Pike stripped the ball, which was recovered at the four-yard line by his teammate Travis Beck. North Dakota State then went down the field 96 yards and scored on a 55-yard touchdown run by quarterback Brock Jensen to put them up 20-7 after the missed extra point.

Georgia Southern had a chance to get back in the game when their offense got back on track as they marched all the way to the North Dakota State three-yard line and decided to go for it on fourth-and-goal. On the fourth down play running back Darreion Robinson was stopped behind the line of scrimmage for a loss of five yards.

After that stop, North Dakota State drove down the field 92 yards to put the game out of reach when Sam Ojuri scored on a four-yard run to put them up 28-7. For good measure North Dakota State put up another touchdown when D.J. McNorton scored the final points of the game and give North Dakota State a 35-7 win.

The North Dakota State defense was able to shut down the vaunted Georgia Southern triple-option running attack to only 186 total yards which was well under their average of 334 yards per game. While North Dakota State was able to 314 yards and score four touchdowns on the groung. North Dakota State quarterback Brock Jensen led the way by passing for 137 yards and a touchdown as well as rushing for 96 yards and a score.

Georgia Southern Vs. North Dakota State: Brock Jensen's 55-Yard TD Run Gives Bison A Lead 20-7

North Dakota State took advantage of a Georgia Southern fumble to extend their lead 20-7. Georgia Southern's Jaybo Shaw completed a 30-yard pass to J.J. Wilcox for what looked to be a touchdown and would have tied the game at 14 apiece. However, North Dakota State's John Pike stripped the ball from Wilcox and was recovered by teammate Travis Beck at the Bison's four-yard line.

North Dakota State took over and proceeded to drive down the field with a mix of passing and rushing plays, and then quarterback Brock Jensen ripped off a 55-yard touchdown run to extend the Bison's lead. The extra point was missed so the lead would be 20-7.

Georgia Southern has now responded after the North Dakota State score to put on a drive of their own using their triple-option offense. Quarterback Jaybo Shaw picked up a 33-yard run to get the offense out of the shadow of their own goal post. Then running Darreion Robinson ran 14 yards to convert on a third-and-four to give Georgia Southern a first-and-goal at the nine-yard line.

Georgia Southern was faced a fourth-and-goal at the three-yard line and decided to go for it, but Robinson stopped for a loss of five yards on the play by to turn the ball over on downs.

Georgia Southern Vs. North Dakota State Halftime Update: Bison Lead The Eagles 14-7 In FCS Championship Semis

If the Georgia Southern Eagles want to try and book their plans to play in the NCAA FCS Championship, their first order of business might be to stop No. 81 in green and gold.

Warren Holloway has scored two touchdowns in the first half for the Bison, one on the ground and one in the air to help push North Dakota State to a 14-7 lead over the Eagles. Holloway scored on a 19-yard pitch and catch from NDSU quarterback Brock Jensen in the first quarter, and then on a 17-yard reverse run in the second.

The Eagles had tied the game up in the second quarter as true freshman Dominique Swope scored from 23 yards out. With just a few seconds remaining in the half, Georgia Southern head coach Jeff Monken decided to run a fake field goal pass from the 15-yard line that failed miserably.

Georgia Southern will receive the ball in the second half, and the winner will play Sam Houston State in the NCAA FCS Championship next Saturday.

Georgia Southern Vs. North Dakota State Score: Dominique Swope's 23 Yard TD Run Ties Score At 7-7

In the first quarter of action between North Dakota State and Georgia Southern, the Eagles vaunted triple option rushing attack offense was halted to just 11 yards on 8 carries. However, in the second quarter where the Bison were stout in their defense of the run in the previous quarter, things have now begun to open up.

True freshman Dominique Swope scored from 23 yards out to tie the game at 7-7 for Georgia Southern. The touchdown run capped off a 13 play, 83 yard drive that lasted 6:50 in the second quarter. Swope now has 60 yards rushing on 12 carries, and the Eagles offense now has 106 yards on the ground as halftime approaches.

Georgia Southern's offense was initially bogged down and forced to punt, but on the 4th-down play the Eagles ran a fake punt and brought one of the gunners across the field and ran around the right side to keep the drive alive against the Bison defense.

Georgia Southern Vs. North Dakota State Score: Warren Holloway Pushes Off, 7-0 Bison Lead

A botched option play from Georgia Southern that was recovered by North Dakota State led to a 19-yard touchdown pass from Brock Jensen to Warren Holloway in the corner of the endzone. The Bison now have a 7-0 lead over the Eagles in the NCAA Division I football championship semifinal.

Holloway was well covered by the Georgia Southern defender, but a slight push off freed him of the coverage to put the first points on the board for North Dakota State. Quarterback Brock Jensen has thrown for 85 yards to go along with the touchdown.

So far Georgia Southern has been unable to get their triple option offense rolling as the Eagles have run the ball eight times for just 11 yards rushing.

The winner of the semifinal will face the Sam Houston State Bearkats in the NCAA FCS Championship next Saturday.
