Bobby Cremins’ College of Charleston Cougars have a chance to make their first NCAA Tournament trip in over a decade with a win tonight against the Wofford Terriers. The 2011 Southern Conference Tournament title game gets under way at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2, with Charleston still favored to win.
Sunday, Charleston beat Furman 63-58 as Andrew Goudeluck kicked in 31 points despite a shaky shooting start. The Cougars were down by as many as 11 points before pulling out the win.
Wofford topped Western Carolina 86-72, taking an early lead and never looking back. The Terriers are the defending SoCon tourney champs, beating Appalachian State 56-51 last year.
Charleston may need another big night from Goudeluck, who’s been on fire as of late. Wofford is on a hot streak of its own, winning eight of its last nine. Going to be pretty openly rooting for Cremins, FYI. This would be his first NCAA Tournament trip since 1996.
