Jay Rome, redshirt freshman tight end, has recently been getting more looks in the Georgia offense.
Tight end Jay Rome has been quietly increasing his contribution to the Georgia Bulldog offense, reports DogBytes Online. The redshirt freshman from Valdosta had limited opportunities through the first half of the season, but increased playing time has seen him grab five passes in the last two games. He had three catches for 27 yards against Ole Miss, and another two for 17 yards against Auburn.
Rome has enjoyed the action, but he also knows that the role of a tight end sometimes includes some work that isn't exactly flashy:
"Sometimes with blocking, you can make a tremendous block, but you don't get the love. Even though you don't get the love, you know you did a good job, and you're proud of yourself."
Rome was an Under Armour All-American before coming to Georgia, and was also named to the Sporting News Top 100 and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Super 11.
Junior Arthur Lynch is the starting tight end for UGA, but outside of him there's plenty of opportunity at the position. If Rome's recent performance is any indication, he has a bright future with the Bulldogs.
