After a win last week, Georgia Southern looks to stay atop the conference standings.

With a 17-9 win over Wofford on Saturday, Georgia Southern grabbed first place in the Southern Conference. Now the Eagles will look to stay atop the standings against Furman this week.

The Paladins are 2-5 this season and 1-3 in the Southern Conference. Furman has not defeated Georgia Southern since 2009.

Scoring will be tough for Furman against a stout Georgia Southern defense. The Eagles have allowed more than 16 points in just two games all season. Last week against Wofford, the Panthers defense allowed 27 passing yards.

On offense, Georgia Southern relies almost entirely on its running game. The Eagles ran for 265 yards and did not attempt a single pass in the game against Wofford.

Furman is coming off a 31-10 loss to Chattanooga last week. The Paladins struggled on the ground, gaining just 39 yards on 19 carries.

Georgia Southern has three games left on its conference schedule.
