Georgia State football has been on the search for offensive weapons to replace eight starters in 2011 and has offered their second quarterback in the 2012 cycle. Steven Bench of Bainbridge HS received a scholarship offer from the Panthers.
Bench is a 6'2, 210lbs quarterback who has seen the interest from big time schools continue to grow. He is playing in a triple option offense in high school but he looks to have the footwork and mechanics to transition to a pro style offense. Bench has a quick release and an above average arm. He has the frame to hold an additional 15-20lbs with college level strength and conditioning.
He currently holds offers from Rice, South Alabama and Jacksonville State to this point but has heard from Florida State, Alabama, Troy and UAB. He has camped at Georgia and is still working on throwing a tighter ball.
Junior Highlights
Bench is the second quarterback holding an offer in this cycle as the Panthers coaching staff, led by Bill Curry, offered Trey Dorsey of Richmond Hills HS back in April.
