Georgia State athletic director Cheryl Levick has made public some of the details of her search for a new Panthers football head coach.
Details have emerged in the search for a new Georgia State Panthers head coach, reports Doug Roberson of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Citing Georgia State athletic director Cheryl Levick, Roberson discloses a number of details regarding the search for a replacement for head coach Bill Curry, who has announced his retirement following the end of the 2012 season.
Levick places the number of candidates who have contacted her about the position at around 50, and says she hopes to hire someone as early as mid-November but no later than Jan. 1. She says she prefers someone with local recruiting knowledge, and that candidates with previous head coaching experience are likely to get a closer look. The salary for the position is expected to be somewhere between $400,000 and $500,000.
Georgia State is currently 0-5, having lost by at least 21 points in all of their games. Curry's career record as a head coach is 92-123.
