UTSA began playing football in 2011, a year after Georgia State's program was launched.
In many ways, the football programs at Georgia State and UTSA are mirror images of each other.
Both were traditionally commuter schools, but in an effort to create a more traditional on-campus feel, they decided to create a football program from scratch in the last few years.
And since both are located in some of the most fertile recruiting areas in the country, they had no trouble attracting big-name former coaches looking for a sunset role. For Georgia State, it's former Alabama and Georgia Tech coach Bill Curry; for UTSA, it's former Miami coach Larry Coker.
The Panthers are in their third year as a program and the Roadrunners are in their second, but early results have Coker's team with the edge. They defeated Georgia State 17-14 in OT last year in San Antonio and are 2-0 in 2012 as opposed to the Panthers mark of 0-2.
Curry will have a chance to change that on Saturday, as UTSA comes to the Georgia Dome in a game scheduled to kick off at 6:00 p.m. ET.
