McLane and Bell will see action against the Tribe as they contend for the starting job.
With the Georgia State Panthers averaging less than 12 points and fewer than 300 yards per game, Georgia State offensive coordinator John Bond is opening the quarterback competition back up going into the Panthers' upcoming game against the FCS William & Mary Tribe.
Quarterback Ben McLane has started the team's first four games, during which Georgia State has yet to score more than 14 points.
Bond told the Atlanta Journal Constitution that both McLane and backup Ronnie Bell would see extended playing time against the Tribe on Saturday. Bond, however, was quick to explain the blame should not be placed solely on McLane.
"It's been hard to be as consistent as we need to be because of all the guys that have been in an out of the lineup," Bond told the AJC.
For the season, Bell has completed 57 percent of his passes against defenses already protecting large leads, while McLane has completed 49 percent of his passes.
