ACC Football: Miami Hurricanes QB Jacory Harris Injured; Virginia Fans Cheer Injury?

Miami Hurricanes QB Jacory Harris took a serious pop in the second quarter against the Virginia Cavaliers. He left the game after lingering on the field for some time. He was slammed to the ground while hurling a deep interception, which probably shouldn't be attributed to the injury as it's something he does frequently:

He landed on what appeared to be his neck and was taken into the locker room. The Canes are crumbling without him, as Virginia put together a touchdown drive and his backup just threw another pick of his own.

The reaction of Cavs fans in attendance is up for debate.

UVA fans cheering audibly on sideline mics while Jacory Harris lies motionless on the field. I hope you all get face cancer. Mean it.less than a minute ago via Seesmic twhirl

Mia at UVA: Hush over the crowd Jacory Harris down hard. Crowd cheers as he gets up! Helped off to cheers of ACC sportsmanship.less than a minute ago via ÜberTwitter

We’ll take the word of SB Nation’s college football editor over the mouthpiece of the bowl Miami will probably end up playing in as long as they stop doing silly stuff like losing to Virginia, but nice try, The Man. That Twitter is obviously run by an especially Soviet EET MOR CHIKIN cow anyway.

Misperception

Va. fans cheering an injured player. Nothing of the sort happened in any way shape
or form.I am 64 year old Va fan. I was physically present the entire play in question and NOT watching on TV. There were 2 players injured on the play. They were lying on the turf AT OPPOSITE ENDS of the field. The Va player was injured as 2 players went for the interception at the same time and collided. 1 did not get up. Only a few seconds or so later did I see that there was a second player down and THEN saw that it was Miami QB. The cheers heard was applause for the Va player getting up and off the field. Same applause for the Qb when he got up a few minutes later. Both teams and coaches showed great courtesy and respect until it was clear the Qb was ok.
If the camera stayed on the Qb one could miss all this on TV.
