2011 Bowl Projections: Clemson Still The Favorite For ACC's BCS Spot

Clemson has "Clemsoned" themselves, but over at the SB Nation college football mothership, we've gathered four national bowl projections, and the consensus is that the Tigers will still win the ACC and play in the Orange Bowl January 2.

The middle of the pack is a consensus amongst the projections, with Virginia Tech, Florida State and Georgia Tech all picked for the same bowl by each of the four analysts (Phil Steele, Scout.com's staff and ESPN's Mark Schlabach and Brad Edwards).

Provided Clemson stays the course, Virginia Tech is the assumed pick to win the Coastal Division and secure a Chick-Fil-A bid against the SEC (three out of four projections have Auburn as the Hokies' opponent), where they last played and beat Lane Kiffin's Tennessee team in 2009. Florida State will stay in-state to potentially play Notre Dame in the Champs Sports Bowl, where the Irish would hop into the Big East's bowl structure if they can't (and they likely won't) make the BCS. Georgia Tech will hit the road to El Paso, Texas, and play a Pac-12 team (predictions are split between Cal and Utah) in the Sun Bowl.

The smallest tier is still very much a toss up, as surging Virginia and Wake Forest will likely pass up waning Miami and North Carolina, while 4-4 NC State is still alive. The next bowl to pick would by Music City, and the projections have either the Hurricanes, Deacons or Cavaliers going to Nashville.
