At his press conference Monday, Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson announced that Yellow Jackets starting CB Louis Young will be held out of the Sun Bowl for "disciplinary reasons", although he declined to elaborate what exactly that meant:
"We’ll see," Johnson said. "For now, he’s not eligible for the bowl game."
The 6'1 201 sophomore was a highly regarded national recruit, racking up 51 tackles and 1 interception for the Yellow Jackets this season.
He'll be replaced in the starting line-up by Jemea Thomas, a 5'10 190 sophomore who had 3 interceptions this year.
Young's absence should not be a huge deal against Utah, a team that relies primarily on their ground game offensively. The Utes starting QB, Jon Hays, threw only nine touchdown passes all season.
However, Johnson left open the possibility that Young's punishment may extend into next season as well.
