2011 College Football Hall Of Fame: Deion Sanders, Jake Scott Elected Tuesday

The College Football Hall of Fame announced it's 2011 class on Tuesday, and it included just one of the four eligible players that made their names while playing in the state of Georgia. Former Georgia defensive back Jake Scott is part of the 2011 class, while Joe Hamilton, Matt Stinchcomb and Scott Woerner were left on the outside looking in, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Deion Sanders is also part of the 2011 class. He played for Florida St. in College, but made his name professionally while playing for the Atlanta Falcons, so we can claim him too.

We heard that Ohio St. running back Eddie George and former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr were going to be inducted on Monday, the rest of the class looks like this.

Also picked are Florida receiver Carlos Alvarez, Texas defensive lineman Doug English, Oregon State fullback Bill Enyart, Alabama defensive lineman Marty Lyons, Miami defensive lineman Russell Maryland, Georgia defensive back Jake Scott, Nebraska guard Will Shields, Minnesota quarterback Sandy Stephens, West Virginia linebacker Darryl Talley, Oklahoma halfback Clendon Thomas, Arizona defensive lineman Rob Waldrop, and Michigan State receiver Gene Washington.

Scott played for the Bulldogs in the late 60's before starring for the Miami Dolphins throughout the 1970's. Scott still holds Georgia records for most career interceptions and most interception return yards.

Sanders was a two-time consensus All-American at Florida St. in 1986 and 1987, and was a third team selection in 1988. After his career at Florida St., he was selected with the fifth overall pick in the 1989 Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame earlier this year.

The other three Georgie players who were not elected will have another shot at the hall next year.
