Former N.C. State Wolfpack QB Russell Wilson is visiting the Auburn Tigers Tuesday, according to ESPN's Joe Schad. Wilson was let go by Wolfpack program after coach Tom O'Brien questioned his commitment to the program, as he also has a budding minor league baseball career in the works.
Wilson would be free to play his senior season for Auburn in 2011, as he's already graduated from North Carolina State. That would potentially solve Auburn's biggest question -- how to replace Cam Newton -- heading into the season, though it certainly wouldn't be a guaranteed fix, even as talented as Wilson is.
The versatile quarterback was also reportedly interested in the Wisconsin Badgers, and about a dozen schools including multiple SEC teams are believed to have contacted him upon learning of his Wolfpack release.
Wilson has 8,545 career passing yards, with a 76-to-26 touchdowns-to-interceptions ratio, plus he's rushed for 1,089 yards.
