Georgia Tech will be without Denzel McCoy's on-field contributions for at least the 2011 season, but his medical condition won't drive him out of the football program.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets redshirt freshman DL Denzel McCoy will have to sit out the 2011 season, and likely beyond, due to "an undisclosed medical condition" that was discovered before his redshirt year. He'll hang onto his scholarship and contribute as a student assistant.
Coach Paul Johnson on having to make a tough decision:
You're disappointed for him, he's such a great kid. He's gota great attitude and we just tell him, ‘Hey, there's bigger things than football.'
McCoy is getting lots of love on Twitter right now, and looks to be keeping his head up so far:
When in doubt you just gotta smile
